Get ready to start your engines...it's time for "Touch-A-Truck!"

Everyone is invited to see some of the equipment used to keep the Park District operating at the free "Touch-A-Truck" event on Sunday, August 19 from noon to 4 p.m. at Strongsville Park Operations in Mill Stream Run Reservation in Strongsville.

Featuring over 60 pieces of heavy equipment, kid­­­s can climb on and in, and learn wh y each piece of equipment is used. Some of the departments & exhibitors displaying equipment include: park operations, specialty crews like forestry, golf, natural resources, park rangers, and outdoor education.

Equipment on display includes:

Park Operations Department - Backhoe - used for various tasks, including loading salt in the

winter, making underground repairs and landscaping in the summer. This unit can access worksites without causing damage in developed areas. Backhoes, like these, are "out-in-force" whenever storm damage occurs.

Golf Construction Division - Caterpillar - rubber tracks minimize turf damage when repairing or installing irrigation and/or drainage or when reshaping sand traps, this machine expedites capital projects.

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo - Mini Excavator - allows for greater access to tight spaces with minimal impact when digging trenches for repairs or creating foundation footers.

Kids can also enjoy playing in a huge sandbox with over two tons of sand brought in from the golf division.

And, bring empty aluminium cans for Steam Roller Demonstrations! The cans will be rolled "flat as a pancake" at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. and donated to Cleveland Metroparks recycling program.

EarthWords Nature Shop will also be selling merchandise, and "fuel up" with refreshments available for sale.

Be sure to bring cameras, because there is sure to be great photo opportunities!

Strongsville Park Operations facility is located at 9485 Eastland Road in Mill Stream Run Reservation, off Valley Parkway, west of Pearl Road/Route 42 in Strongsville.

Haywagons and shuttle buses will be available to and from the additional parking areas.

The annual Twins day festival is coming up soon! The largest gathering of twins in the world! This August, thousands of twins and multiples gather in Twinsburg, Ohio for a weekend of exciting events!
